Who We Are
NAMIJC is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with mental illness and their families through support, education, and advocacy.
What We Do
NAMIJC offers free services and education to individuals and families affected by mental illness in our community. We advocate, educate, and help connect people to resources and offer support groups. We provide direct peer support services, which give people the opportunity to form community and talk to someone in recovery from mental illness. Our in-person recovery center, R Place, is located in Iowa City and open to anyone impacted by mental illness. We offer activities, socialization, and the opportunity to talk one-on-one to our Peer Support Specialists. We also offer remote peer support services over the phone or Zoom.
Finally, each year, we host NAMIWalks, an event that brings people together to raise awareness about mental health in our community.
