Fifth Ward Saints North

The Fifth Ward Saints North is open to boys and girls ranging in age from 8-12 years old.  The organization uses sports programs, case management, tutoring, and mentoring to support endangered children in the Iowa City Community. The predominate sport activity is Wrestling.  Other sports activities include soccer and basketball. FWSN also provides case management services to participants and their families.  Scholastic achievement is encouraged and supported with after-school tutoring.  When requested, qualified case managers offer help in assessing cases in areas of mental health, housing, food shortages and Medicaid insurance issues.  Participation in the sports programs and services are free of charge.

Our objective is to instill a sense of dignity and hope in each child. Additionally, we give them the opportunity to experience a safe and healthy childhood that promotes healthy lifestyles, and find successful future opportunities through the use of sports. We offer assistance that provides a gateway to available social services for the benefit of at risk youth and their families. Every child in our program and their family will have the needed skills and resources to be successful.
