PATV’s Community Outreach Intern will gain exposure to the inner workings of a Public Access TV station and will further develop their public relations skills by working on a variety of tasks related to station promotion, communications, workshop advertising, event planning, as well as general administrative activities. 

 

Job Responsibilities include:

- 80 hours over ten weeks.

- Assisting in the development and distribution of marketing materials

- Maintaining and creating a new media kit for the station

- Maintaining community/audience mailing list database

- Assisting in community outreach efforts and target/niche marketing for educational workshops and lectures

- Attending/assisting in coordination of community events and fundraisers

- Internet research and writing

Job Requirements:

- The ideal candidate is majoring in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business or related field and is looking to intern for college credit.

- Computer literate, possess excellent written, oral, and communications skills.

- High attention to detail and the ability to work independently and on a team

PATV’s Production Intern will gain exposure to the inner workings of a Public Access TV station and will further develop their video production/post-production skills by working on a variety of in-house and field projects, helping maintain video equipment, as well as assisting the PATV staff in daily operational duties.

 

Intern projects may include:

Complete camera, editing, and studio workshops with staff Work as technical crew on PATV studio productions. Field productions and special projects, as assigned help edit PATV staff productions 

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate is majoring in Film/Video Production or related field and is
looking to intern for college credit.
- Experience with digital video production/post-production.
- Have an interest in community programming.
- Computer literate, possess excellent written, oral, and communications skills.
- 10 hours per week, including occasional evening and weekend hours.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work independently and on a team

PATV is a resource dedicated to diversity in community communication. PATV provides opportunities for local citizens to make use of current technology to exchange information and ideas and to participate in the democratic process. PATV promotes media literacy through training in media production and critical viewing

This free orientation is mandatory for all new members and volunteers. The one-hour class covers the history, rules and procedures of PATV, as well as an introduction to the technical resources available. Guidelines is the prerequisite to production classes at PATV.

It takes place on the first Thursday of each month. 6 - 7 PM at 206 Lafayette Street in Iowa City.

PATV's Board of Directors is a nine-person volunteer board. Each member serves a three-year term and may serve up to two terms. The board creates policies for PATV, which are implemented by the Executive Director.

Board meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 7pm and are open to the public.
