Attend community events in a variety of locations (both indoors and outdoors) to educate children and adults about Iowa's raptors (eagles, hawks, owls, vultures, etc) and their role in ecosystems, as well as about RARE as an organization and the services we provide to southeastern Iowa. This may include answering questions, displaying or preserving educational specimens and materials, presenting programs in front of groups of up to 100 participants (average of 30 people). Training and safety equipment will be provided. The address listed below is only one location where educational events are held.
- No prior experience necessary.
- Must be at least 18 years old. Minors must have a parent/guardian present at all times and may not have direct contact with animals.
- Must be comfortable handling preserved educational specimens: wings, feet, skulls, bones, feathers, etc of deceased birds, and pellets (regurgitated clumps of undigested food like fur and bones).
- Must be comfortable interacting with children and explaining things in ways they can understand.
- Minimum commitment of 1 event or 4 hrs per month.
- Must wear closed-toed shoes if handling live raptors.
