The DeGowin Blood Center is hosting a blood drive at the MERF atrium in the University of Iowa Roy J. Carver College of Medicine.
Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins will be accepted as time is available. Visit UIDeGowinBloodCenter.org or call 319-356-2058 to make an appointment.
When donating remember to:
- Provide photo ID
- Drink plenty of fluids and eat a good meal before you donate
- Be free of cold and flu symptoms for five days
- Bring a list of medications you take
- Bring a list of places you have visited outside the US in the last three years.
Whole blood donations take 45 minutes to an hour.
The UI DeGowin Blood Center is a hospital-based blood center. All blood collected is used locally to support patients at UI Health Care and UI Stead Family Children's Hospital.
