The Council for International Visitors to Iowa Cities (CIVIC) is a non-profit organization that focuses on citizen diplomacy. CIVIC collaborates with the US Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program by bringing international visitors from around the globe who are leaders in their fields to eastern Iowa.
What We Do
CIVIC programs develops relationships between our visitors and eastern Iowans by scheduling professional meetings, arranging home hospitality visits, and planning cultural excursions. In doing so CIVIC aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas, build global ties locally, foster mutual understanding, and forge friendships across national borders. CIVIC volunteers provide critical support to our mission of citizen diplomacy. Volunteers escort and attend professional meetings with our visitors, have visitors to dinner, transport guests to and from the airport, or share their knowledge of the area by taking visitors on cultural excursions. If you have an interest in a particular region of the world, being a CIVIC volunteer affords the opportunity to interact with visitors from the area. Are you interested in particular field? CIVIC hosts visitors who are here to exchange ideas ranging from agriculture to human rights.
